The legend
A thousand years ago, Kundun nearly destroyed the continent. The sages who defeated him could not kill him: they could only seal him in the depths of Kalima.
One seal was not enough. The sages forged seven rings to guard it and carried each one to a different land, so that no army could ever gather them all. For a thousand years, no one remembered them.
The rings became monster treasure, a gorgon's crown, a Hydra's bait. Now the seal is cracking, the rings are breaking into fragments and the monsters grow bolder every night.
The Seven Rings
Each ring carries the personality of the sage who forged it. In the game, each one is a chapter of the Saga of the Rings.
Patient: it protects its bearer and freezes whoever threatens them. Since it broke, the Devias winter never ends.
Loyal to the dead. The ancient warriors were buried with it, and today a gorgon wears it as a crown.
Whoever wears it hears what others think. The tower mages went mad with it.
Restless: it always tries to escape to the depths. It sank with the city and became the Hydra's treasure.
Nomadic: it never stays in one place. It passes from hand to hand among the desert Zaikan.
Free. It is what keeps the islands of Icarus in the air. Without it, everything falls.
Hungry: it drinks the life around it. Buried under the oldest tree of Aida, it dried out the whole forest.
Elandra and the Mark
Elandra was the last guardian of the rings, an elf from Noria who watched over the seal in Kalima. When the seal cracked, she gave her own body so it would not break completely. She became light.
That light searched for someone able to gather the rings. It found you: a circle on your hand that burns near danger and fragments, and a voice only you can hear.
You are not the only one. All over the continent, adventurers are waking up with the same Mark. They are called the Marked.
What Kundun wants
Kundun is not fully imprisoned. The crack lets his will leak out: it is what wakes the dead in the Dungeon and drives the monsters mad. He knows the Marked are gathering the rings, and he does not need the real ones. In the ruins of Kanturu there is a machine that can copy anything...
